I’m not talking about whether it’s Topshop or Balmain I’m talking about the labels you give yourself, I’m a procrastinator, I’m unorganized, I’m not confident.
Ask yourself this, are you’re self labels allowing you to get away with things? So “I haven’t done that job on my to do list” and although it doesn’t feel great, but you know what “I’m a procrastinator” so that’s why I didn’t get it done. Stop letting yourself of the hook, you’re doing yourself no favours and you will continue in the same cycle.
If you are going to label yourself, start now today by saying the opposite, so for example replace procrastinator with “I am proactive” say it over and over again, and keep telling yourself that. Repetition is key even if you feel resistance push through it, you will soon feel the change internally; it will shift your perspective to a proactive approach.
Self-talk is powerful beyond belief; feed yourself something positive, that will nurture you and move your forward not let you off the hook.
Have a great day

Recently we’ve become the parents of an amazing baby girl and what I’ve noticed is how we celebrate her achievements. Now I’m not talking about missy winning her first skate comp (no pressure poppet) or doing her first windmill, she’s four and half months old that would be a bit odd. What I am talking about is missy doing a great burp, making new sounds or grabbing a toy; these bring us endless hours of proud sighs and happiness, we get proper excited about her day to day achievements.
Now it got me thinking again about us as adults and do we recognise what we have achieved or are we too busy focusing on what else we want to do that we rarely celebrate our day-to-day achievements.
Lets take 2013, have you taken any time to look back and see what you achieved in the past twelve months, if not take a few minutes right now. Maybe you got that job or client you wanted, started your own business, did an amazing shoot, started exercising or ran a marathon. Maybe you got out of the rut of a relationship you’re in or made the one you’re in even better, if so, nice one!
Often we focus on and are chasing the “bigger” and “better” things and miss out on the smaller things we achieve. Now I’m not saying you need to high five your bestie for breaking wind (I’m also not saying don’t), what I am saying is its important to acknowledge the small things that we achieve day to day rather than beating ourselves up about the things we haven’t done yet.
Why not make 2014 the year that you start giving yourself a break and recognising how much you actually do. Use your past achievements as a motivator to move forward and achieve more, you’ve proved you can do it, now keep it up.

I received some tickets to an event in London this past weekend. It was called The Fuck It Weekend and it’s ran by a lovely couple called John and Gaia. It was great, we sat on the floor all weekend whilst chatting, dancing and doing both mind and physical exercise.
I wanted to share one exercise with you that we did that I really liked. It’s really simple and you can get really fast results from it.
- Make a list of what you love to do
- Make a list of what you don’t like doing
- Make a list of what you used to love doing
- Make a list of what you think you’d love to do
- Start doing more of what you love
- Start doing less of what you don’t like
- Think about why you’re not doing what you use to love doing
- Start finding out more about what you’d think you’d love to do
Fuck it and do more of what you love!

Every Sunday I go and visit an old lady up the road from me, just for an hour, her name is Bernadine and she is 87.
When I went last Sunday she was really down, upon my arrival her words were “I just want to die”, nice greeting I thought. And so we sat there for a good 20 minutes and I listened to how much she wanted to die, she really wanted to die on Sunday, it’s because she can’t do everything that she used to be able to do.
I asked her if she wanted a dance, that’s what we do most Sundays is have a little waltz around her living room, she loves dancing, it always puts a massive smile on her face. She declined my offer; if she didn’t want to dance I knew she was feeling pretty rubbish, she’s never not wanted to dance.
So I just listened some more as she then talked about how she was scared because she didn’t know what would happen to her when she does die, even though she really wanted to die, bless her she was just all round upset on Sunday. I said I’m sure you’ll be fine; you can hang out with your mates and your three husbands that unfortunately she lost over time when she was younger in life.
She was still upset, I said, “maybe you’ll come back as a cat”, she said, “I don’t really like cats”, I said, “The Queen, you’ll come back as the next Queen” Bernadine loves The Queen.
She looked up at me and said “wouldn’t that be lovely” then with a big smile on her face she said “Shall we have a little dance”, so we did, around her living room as we do, most Sundays.

Anything I’ve ever done that ultimately was worthwhile… initially scared me to death. – Betty Bender
Feeling a bit sick about a task, almost not doing it because you don’t know how it will come out, although you really want to do it. Sound familiar?
I reckon Betty nailed it when she said the above.
Remember FEAR (False, Expectations, Appearing Real) is worrying about something that hasn’t even happened yet. If you feel that passionate about something, your passion will carry you through, go for it.
Happy Friday lovelies, have an ace weekend

When was the last time you congratulated yourself on how far you’ve come in your career?
Think back to where you were in your career five years ago, and now look where you are. Look at the experience you have gained, think about how much you have grown. Think about the things that you’ve accomplished that five years ago you would have nervously laughed at the thought of even attempting to do. It’s amazing.
Give yourself a brake from self-criticism and take time out to admire how good you are and how far you have come.

WHY did you start your own company, take that job, go freelance. Think back to WHY you made that move. What was your WHY?
Was it because it was a great challenge, maybe you always wanted your own company, it would give you independence, you could show the world who you are creatively.
So now you’ve set up your own company, gone freelance or took that great job and it’s one, two maybe three years in and you’re well, a bit over it. Yes I did just say that.
The original pride and rush of excitement when explaining to your team how important it is to be so meticulous and why that precision had to be so, has now turned into a “FFS I can’t believe they still don’t get it right”.
How your drive and determination of change when you first arrived at that company has now changed into “fine, put that s&^* graphic on that Tee”.
Seriously, are you excited anymore, are you driven (if so, brilliant keep it up). Do you still bounce out of bed or is it a case of It’s my company I’ve got to get up or I’ve got a good salary, I best nod in agreement. Or maybe its how Simon Sinek puts it, “its no longer a passionate pursuit, it’s just a business”
If so the question I have for you is, what are you going to do about it?
Have a think back to WHY you did it in the first place. WHY did you start your company, WHY did you take that job, WHY did you go freelance.
What was your WHY?
Have a great weekend
